“How an Australian freight forwarding and logistics company turned an ordinarily invisible B2B industry into a global digital experience — and unexpectedly attracted hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world.”

In the weeks following its launch, the United Carriers website began attracting attention from designers, developers and content creators around the world.

Independent creators began recording reviews, reactions and walkthroughs of the website and sharing them with their own audiences.

Across a selection of this independently created content, videos featuring the United Carriers website over the last 2 weeks have now accumulated more than 12 million combined views.

The resulting attention has introduced United Carriers to an audience far beyond what we anticipated when the project began.

Our own website analytics have subsequently recorded a significant increase in international traffic and new visitors, which we continue to monitor.

We recognise that social reach does not immediately translate into commercial outcomes. Much of the initial attention has originated within the international design and creative community.

Our view is therefore long term.

We anticipate that the greater value will be measured over the next 12–18 months and beyond through increased brand awareness, recognition, trust, search visibility, relationships and ultimately new commercial opportunities.

Recognition for digital excellence

The United Carriers digital experience has also received recognition from several international digital design organisations.

Appearing independently across Awwwards, CSSDA, FWA, BestCSS, Three.js Resources, Muzli, Dribbble, Footer Design, A1 Gallery, Details.so, Instagram and Threads. Details.so, for example, independently posted the site under the description “Insane Scroll Animation by United Carriers”, and similar posts are appearing on Threads and other design-curation accounts.

We are proud of that recognition and of the creative team at Bear Plus who worked with us to develop the experience.

However, the awards themselves were never the objective.

They are recognition of a broader decision we made as a business: not to accept that a company operating in a traditional B2B industry needs to communicate like one.

Excellence as a business decision

United Carriers operates in international freight forwarding, customs brokerage, transport, warehousing and supply chain management.

It is an industry in which reliability, accuracy and trust matter.

Our customers entrust us with their products and supply chains. Behind every shipment are businesses, employees, customers, projects and commitments that depend on goods arriving where they need to be.

We therefore believe excellence cannot be limited to one part of the organisation.

It should influence how we move freight.

How we communicate.

How we develop technology.

How we build our team.

How we solve problems.

How we represent our customers.

And how we represent ourselves.

The United Carriers website is one highly visible expression of that philosophy.

An unexpected responsibility

The increased international exposure has also created considerations we had not initially anticipated.

United Carriers has historically concentrated its social media activity on LinkedIn. Following the increased visibility of the brand, we have established official United Carriers presences on Instagram and Facebook primarily to protect our digital identity and reduce the potential for impersonation.

Our website and LinkedIn will continue to be our primary channels for company communications.

What comes next

We are grateful for the attention the project has received, but our focus remains on building United Carriers.

Digital recognition does not move a customer's freight.

Our people do.

Our systems, carrier relationships, customs expertise, operational discipline and global network do.

The opportunity now is to ensure that the standard people are experiencing digitally is reflected throughout every interaction they have with United Carriers.

That is ultimately what this project was intended to represent.

"Most freight-forwarding websites look very similar."

United Carriers now has something competitors cannot easily copy overnight — an internationally recognised brand experience."

“If we put this much thought into how you experience our company before becoming a client, imagine the attention we put into your supply chain.”

Multiple international digital-design recognitions within roughly two weeks.
